Via th NYT blog and the Tages Anzeiger I recently discovered Arthur Rooks – Zurich’s very own Mix Meister.

American born Arthur is the man behind quintessentia.com. A home furnishing website you’d expect to be based everywhere but in Zurich. For all of you out there who know, that the term “eclectic” was not only coined for music, Arthur provides the answer.

Everybody else… feel free to stay with your USM shelf….

I recently purchased some items from Mister Rooks… and that’s my only “eclectic complaint”; the service was impeccably Swiss, simply swift and hassle free. Almost boring… Keep it up Arthur!

Quintessentia is an online treasure trove not to be missed.

Bofill proves the point; There is no industrial space that can not be reused.

We’ve seen the warehouse turned loft, the bunker turned art museum, the garage turned art gallery… In my opinion Bofill has taken it one step further, turning a former cement factory into a multi purpose structure including his architectural office, exhibition space, apartment and more. An absolutely admirable use and reuse of space and structure.

“to be an architect means to understand space, to understand space organized by man, to decipher the spontaneous movements and behavior of people, and to detect the needs of change that they might unconsciously express. It is essential to track down these issues if we want

The artwork by Maxime Ansiau is probably best described as a fusion of traditional craft and contemporary wit. Ansiau creates traditional blue and white delftware with a twist… that would look good on anybodies wall!

Maxime was born in Paris and lives and works now in Rotterdam, NL. These and other works were recently included in the ”Found Footage” exhibition at Galerie Iris Cornelis, Rotterdam.…

At the London Art Fair 2011 I was first introduced to the abstract works of Fiona Curran.

Fiona received her fine art masters from the Manchester Metropolitan University and is currently working on her PhD at the Slade School of Fine Art in London… which fortunately for us, doesn’t prevent her from creating some very fine art.

Fiona is also a finalist for the Guasch-Coranty International Painting Prize and has been Short Listed for the Abbey Painting Fellowship at The British School at Rome…

Fiona Curran. An abstract painter to keep on your radar!…
